Training Women and Girls to Recognize, Report and Prevent Gender-Based Violence
As part of the AGORA project, 9 partner organizations implemented a comprehensive training programme aimed at empowering women and girls to recognize, report, and respond to gender-based violence. Through 55 training sessions conducted across 6 municipalities, a total of 1,069 women and girls strengthened their knowledge of their rights, available protection mechanisms, referral pathways, and support services.
The training programme addressed key issues related to gender-based violence, including understanding different forms of violence, identifying warning signs, accessing available services, and navigating reporting and referral mechanisms. Participants were also informed about the roles and responsibilities of institutions involved in protection and support, helping to build greater trust in local response systems.
By combining awareness-raising, practical guidance, and community engagement, the programme increased participants’ confidence to seek support, report violence, and assist others within their families and communities. The trainings created safe spaces for discussion, experience-sharing, and learning, particularly for women and girls who often face barriers to accessing information and services.
Implemented by local civil society organizations across Albania, these activities contributed to strengthening community resilience, promoting informed participation, and fostering stronger connections between women, communities, and institutions. Through this approach, the programme helped advance safer, more inclusive, and more supportive environments for women and girls, while reinforcing local efforts to prevent and address gender-based violence.
