GADC Supports Protest by Women Workers at Garment Factory in Fier

7.10.2023

GADC is supporting the protest by women and girls employed at “Ozgun Kan Albania” garment factory, who are demanding from the Fier Prosecutor’s Office to immediately stop putting off the examination of the complaint filed against the “Ozgur Kan Albania” company, which, abusively, has not paid its employees’ wages for a period of two months and ten days.

"Our complaint has been ‘sleeping’ for more than two months in the Prosecutor’s Office and nothing has been done to finalize the judicial investigation and send the case to court, in order for the company to stop its abusive behavior and pay us our unpaid wages. We are 70 women and girls who worked without ever signing a contract with the company (because this is what happens in Albania, especially in garment and footwear factories). We complied with every requirement we received from the factory managers, including the high and often unachievable norms. In the end, our two-month long efforts were not rewarded."

The women and girls seek justice for this!
