Roundtable Discussion – “Rehabilitation and reintegration services for women survivors of violence, within the social welfare system in the Republic of Albania”

On 2.6.2021 the "Gender Alliance for Development" Center (GADC) and the Albanian Women's Empowerment Network (AWEN) organized the Round Table: "Rehabilitation and reintegration services for women survivors of violence, within the social welfare system in Republic of Albania." This activity was organized within the regional project: "Institutionalizing Quality Rehabilitation and Reintegration Services for women and girls survivors of violence". The project is implemented in cooperation with the network of organizations working against gender-based violence in the countries of the Western Balkans, led by the Autonomous Center for Women, Serbia and supported by the Austrian Development Agency.

The purpose of this activity was the presentation of the Report "Rehabilitation and reintegration services within the social welfare system in the Republic of Albania for women survivors of violence". This report aims to improve secondary legislation/programs and the institutionalization of quality services for survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The result of the project as well as the discussions of this roundtable are aimed at improving the quality of rehabilitation and integration services for survivors of GBV in all countries of the Western Balkans, including Albania.

About 60 representatives of various institutions of the country, representatives of civil society, local institutions, media, donors, etc. participated in this activity, following the discussion online via the ZOOM platform.

Present at the discussion table were: Mr. Albert Nikolla, deputy Minister of Health and Social Protection (MHSP), Dr. Christian Steiner, Austrian Ambassador in Tirana; Mrs. Merita Xhafaj, General Director of Health and Social Protection Policies and Development, Mrs. Blerta Gazheli - Coordinator at the Lilium center, Mrs. Brikena Puka, Executive Director of the Vatra Center, Mrs. Ines Leskaj, AWEN Executive Director. During the event, Mrs. Alexandra Nestorov from the Autonomous Center for Women, Serbia and Mrs. Adelina Berisha from the Kosovo Women's Network brought experiences from their own countries.
