Winter School “Workplace Safety and Health in Garment and Footwear Factories”

On November 18 - 19, 2022, the first Winter School "Workplace Safety and Health in Garment and Footwear Factories" was organized in Durres with representatives of Workplace Safety and Health Councils from garment and footwear production factories.

During the first day, the participants had the opportunity to receive in-depth information regarding the Law on Workplace Safety and Health; the functioning of Workplace Safety and Health Councils; Action Plan and Risk Assessment; information on company Doctors and their role in cooperation with the Workplace Safety and Health Council. In addition, through an online connection with the Center for the Politics of Emancipation in Serbia, participants learned about the functioning of Safety Councils in the Western Balkans and the experience of the Clean Clothes Campaign.

On the second day, the participants were introduced to the Convention of the International Labor Organization - ILO C190, Convention on violence and harassment; the practical orientation by the Labor Inspectorate on the operation of safety councils as well as the cooperation of these councils with workers and employers; the benefits that periodic cooperation brings to the company and employees. We thank the participants for their full engagement during these two days, as well as the trainers, experts and representatives of the Labor Inspectorate, Solidarity Center, and the National Association of Garment and Footwear Manufacturers, Pro Export.
