Besjana Hysa - Project Coordinator

Besjana Hysa is a highly experienced Project Coordinator who holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Information Technology at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, as well as a Master's degree in Information Systems in Economics from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tirana. She is one of the co-founders of the Albanian Institute of Sciences, also known as Open Data Albania, where she worked as a Project Manager for 10 years, implementing several projects related to accountability and transparency. Some of her well-known projects include Open Procurement Albania, Red Flag Index for Local Government Contracting, and Open Government as Good Governance, as well as ICT sector projects like the cross-border project Open ICT Education for Youth Employability.

In 2022, Besjana joined the Gender Alliance for Development Center (GADC) staff as Project Coordinator for the "Women's Economic Empowerment through Gender Sensitive Value Chain Interventions" and "Improve working conditions in garment and footwear sector in Albania and empowering women working in the sector" projects.

As a Project Coordinator, Besjana has several main responsibilities. She prepares relevant project reports and documentation, collects data and information related to the projects, and drafts routine correspondence. She is also responsible for preparing the logistical and organizational part of the projects and coordinating between actors. Besjana plays a key role in defining project goals and objectives, defining project activities and monitoring, implementing, and following up on progress to ensure that the objectives are met. She contributes to the evaluation of projects by organizing data, information, and preparation and maintenance of records, documents, and control plans for monitoring the implementation of projects. Additionally, Besjana prepares additional information for use in discussions with donors, government, and other organizations. She maintains systematic contacts as a liaison point in project activities to ensure good communication with relevant experts, organizations or institutions for the successful operation of the project. Furthermore, she represents GADC in activities of other actors in the sector as appropriate.
