17th Steering Committee Meeting to finalize the Public Finance Management Strategy 2023-2030

03.05.2024 The GADC participated in the 17th Steering Committee meeting organized by the Ministry of Finance to finalize the Public Finance Management Strategy 2023-2030.
Within this strategy, the Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB) is included into Pillar 2: Integrated strategic and budget planning, monitoring, and transparent reporting signifies a significant step towards promoting gender equality and addressing the unique needs of diverse populations. By embedding GRB alongside climate-responsive budgeting, the strategy acknowledges the interconnectedness of fiscal policies with social and environmental considerations, paving the way for more inclusive and sustainable development.

Furthermore, the prioritization of initiatives such as the introduction of green/climate-responsive budgeting and the enhancement of GRB through gender gap analysis underscores the government's commitment to fostering resilience to climate change and advancing gender equity. These efforts not only contribute to achieving national development goals but also align with global agendas such as the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Agreement.

Additionally, the emphasis on conducting ex ante and ex post gender analysis as part of budget methodologies reflects a proactive approach to addressing gender disparities and ensuring that fiscal policies are gender-responsive and equitable. By incorporating gender considerations into the budgeting process, policymakers can better identify and mitigate the differential impacts of fiscal measures on various population groups, ultimately leading to more effective and inclusive outcomes.

In light of these developments, the formulation of the Public Finance Management Strategy 2023-2030 represents a significant milestone in advancing the country's fiscal governance framework towards greater transparency, accountability, and responsiveness to social and environmental imperatives. The GADC commends the Ministry of Finance for its leadership in spearheading these efforts and looks forward to supporting the implementation of the strategy to realize its transformative potential.
