Countering Violent Extremism: The Positive Impact of GADC Trainings in Elbasan

On 14 December 2023, a group of unemployed and newly-employed young people participated in the latest training organized by GADC in Elbasan. The aim of this meeting was to promote initiatives and develop professional skills in the field of start-ups.

The participants were introduced to the nature and purpose of the meeting, which was also focused on the assessment of the current situation in education, the level of employment and professional skills of young people, as well as everyone’s contribution against violent extremism. Meanwhile, the main purpose was to present the "Pre-Incubation" program and provide a clear perspective on utilizing business opportunities. In addition, the participants received important information on the Youth Guarantee program led by the National Employment Agency, giving them a chance to increase their knowledge and actively engage in this program.

In another important moment, one of the participants, a successful young woman who runs a handicrafts business, shared her experience with the group. She talked about her path towards success and the expansion of production activity based on pre-incubation.

The importance of dedication to developing innovation and start-ups was emphasized throughout the meeting. This positive start will contribute to improving the economic and professional situation of young people in Elbasan. This meeting serves as a first step in a positive journey for community development and the creation of a safe environment, also contributing in the fight against violent extremism. 

This training was conducted under the project: "Leaving the past behind: Building Resilience to violent extremism through support and education." With implementation by the Gender Alliance for Development Center (GADC), this program is led by the Counseling Line for Women and Girls (CLWG) and is funded by the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF).
