Gender Budget Watchdog Network in Moldova

From 23 to 28 August 2023, the Gender Budget Watchdog Network convened in Chisinau, Moldova, for a focused workshop that aimed to improve the network’s communication strategy.

The seminar agenda contained a series of diverse topics and the whole workshop was led by Dr. Ludmila Malcoci, Keystone Regional Director for Central and Eastern Europe. Starting with a detailed analysis of the situation, the participants delved deeper into the network’s internal and external communications. This session provided a platform for the representatives of the different organizations to contribute with their own perspectives on the network’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and potential threats.

Afterwards, the team focused its energy towards reviewing the mission, vision, and main objectives of the Gender Budget Watchdog Network, reinforcing the network’s fundamental principles.

An important aspect of the seminar focused on accurately profiling the audience, users and stakeholders relevant to the project. In addition, the team worked on formulating influential messages adapted for effective communication with these groups. This effort was naturally integrated into the designing of strategies to utilize communication channels and distribution methods that resonate with the target audience.

The last two days of the seminar were dedicated to fruitful discussions on the methodology for gender-responsive monitoring of climate action budgets. The participants also engaged in dynamic dialogue regarding potential network expansion into new organizations, where communication tools would play an instrumental role.

In between intensive seminar sessions, participants had the unique opportunity to explore the most important monuments of the Republic of Moldova, including the capital Chisinau, the fascinating wine cellars of Milestii Mici and the impressive archeological site of Orheiul Vechi.

The project "Strengthening Transparency and Accountability for Gender Equality in Western Balkans and Moldova (Gender Budget Watchdog Network, Phase II)”, is supported by the Austrian Development Agency and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. This visionary initiative was made possible through cooperative efforts by honored partners, including - Gender Alliance for Development Centre; - Centre for Research and Policy Making; - Center for Civil Society Promotion; - Kosovo Women’s Network; - Women Action; - Gender Knowledge Hub; - Keystone Moldova.
