Training with Women Entrepreneurs from Administrative Unit no. 1 in Tirana

1.6.2023 Gender Alliance for Development Center has been implementing for months the "Women’s Economic Empowerment through Gender-Sensitive Value Chain Interventions" project. The aim of this project is to address issues of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment in the context of the consequences and challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.

The project is supported by Gender Equity and Equality Action (GEEA) Fund of the Department of State and the U.S. Embassy in Tirana.

During the pandemic and the challenges brought about by climate change, women have faced great insecurities and obstacles in their efforts to achieve economic success. The project aims to improve their access to the business market and empower them as entrepreneurs. This initiative intends to create positive change and serve as a source of encouragement and inspiration for women with entrepreneurial talent and will. The main objective of the project is to economically empower women and to reduce the level of insecurity that they experience.

By conducting a gender analysis of the business value chain in several sectors, we aim to identify the challenges and opportunities for women entrepreneurs. Through trainings and knowledge-sharing in the areas of business finances, banking products, the value chain and its importance, and insurance products, we will help women make informed decisions and overcome barriers to business development.

In the framework of this project, on June 1, 2023 we held the latest training session with women entrepreneurs of Administrative Unit no. 1 in Tirana, focusing on: identifying customer target groups and approach, budgeting & access to finance, knowledge of banking and insurance products, and strategic human resources management.

Through the training, women entrepreneurs received more detailed information on finance management. In addition, the information on insurance markets and products will help them to successfully deal with risks.

Another important aspect of the training was human resources planning and development. Through this training, the women learned how to go from human assets to human investment, by more efficiently managing their human resources and by creating a motivational and productive work environment.

In addition to trainings, the project also promotes the creation of an encouraging environment for discussion and cooperation. Women will have the opportunity to share their experiences, to learn from each-other’s successes and challenges, developing innovative strategies and discovering novel solutions for advancing the development of their businesses.
