The Social Contract 2023: Focus group with citizens of Farkë Administrative Unit, Tirana

7.3.2023: The Gender Alliance for Development Center is continuing the meetings with residents of the Municipality of Tirana in the framework of POP - Juxtaposing Political Offers and the drafting of the Social Contract 2023 for the local elections of May 14, 2023.

We discussed together with residents of Farkë Administrative Unit about priorities and needs of the community in the areas where they live, priorities which will be presented to the mayor candidates during the month of April 2023 in the Tirana Public Forum.

But what do the citizens say and what are some of their concerns:

• Attention should be returned to internal roads, especially the roads connecting Farka e Vogel with Sauk.
• The water is supplied on a schedule and in most of the unit it is not drinkable.
• Public transport continues to remain an obstacle for the residents of this unit.
• There is a need for the establishment of a community center.
• A big obstacle for the economic empowerment of women who stay at home to take care of their children, is the fact that the kindergarten is open only until 12:00.
• The residents demand that the united high school be separated so that the children of the 9-year-system can study separately from high school students.
