The Social Contract 2023: Focus group with citizens of Baldushk Administrative Unit, Tirana

6.3.2023 The Gender Alliance for Development Center is continuing the meetings with residents of the Municipality of Tirana in the framework of POP - Juxtaposing Political Offers and the drafting of the Social Contract 2023 for the local elections of May 14, 2023.

On 6.3.2023, we discussed together with residents of Baldushk Administrative Unit about priorities and needs of the community in the areas where they live, priorities which will be presented to the mayor candidates during the month of April 2023 in the Tirana Public Forum.

But what do the citizens say and what are some of their concerns:

  • The Vrap village has no roads and is isolated. The same is true for the villages of Vesqi, Parret and Kakunj.
  • The addition of time slots for Baldushk lines where buses come every 45, 50 or 60 minutes.
  • The water supply network is missing and required in all villages except the center of the unit (Baldushk).
  • In Fushëz the neighborhood is blocked, and in Mustafakoçaj the sewers are in a very bad condition and create a source of infection.
  • The construction of a new school is required in Mustafakoçaj of Baldushk, as the existing school has very bad conditions.
  • The creation of a market for the sale of agricultural products in Baldushk, where such a market is missing and farmers are not able to transport their products to the Farka market.
  • In Baldushk, residents also request that the municipality facilitate the construction of livestock stables on their lands.
