Call for Experts on Women’s Economic Empowerment through Gender Sensitive Value Chain Interventions

Background
Gender Alliance for Development Center (GADC) is looking to engage a pool of 10-12 experts for the project Women’s Economic Empowerment through Gender Sensitive Value Chain Interventions.

GADC is a leading CSO in Albania and in South East Europe recognized for its role in introducing crucial issues regarding women’s rights and social inclusion, such as gender-based violence and trafficking in persons, economic empowerment of vulnerable groups, and advocating for key legislation and policies, etc. GADC draws its strength also from its large network of National and International experts and trainers. Main areas of expertise are: Strengthening the capacities of CSOs and establishing new initiatives; Advancing human rights, antidiscrimination, and gender equity; Ensuring broad civic engagement in democratic development. 

The project: "Women's Economic Empowerment through Gender Sensitive Value Chain Interventions", addresses gender-equality and women’s economic empowerment amidst COVID-19 consequences and climate change challenges.  This project is supported by the Gender Equity and Equality Action (GEEA) Fund of the Department of State.  The project will be implemented by the Gender Alliance for Development Centre, within the territory of the Municipality of Tirana and aims to empower diverse women entrepreneurs, who are beneficiaries of the grants distributed by the municipality during the last 4 years. Women who are doing business within Tirana Municipality will be also primary beneficiaries of the project.

The goal of the project is to improve women’s income, reduce insecurities that women face within the business value chain, empower women entrepreneurs to assume more active roles and analyse from the gender perspective the value chains in businesses.

The project focuses its outreach within the Municipality of Tirana, rural and urban areas.

Expert’s Profile
Experts should demonstrate a good understanding of the Economy/Business situations in Albania and Gender Equality principles. The candidates should be result-oriented person, demonstrating excellent communication, facilitation and presentation skills.

To be selected for the development of the Gender Sensitive Value Chain Interventions, the expert should comply with the following selection Criteria - Professional Experience Required:

Economical Experts:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in developing economic analysis
  • Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter.
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and writing skills
  • Experience in analysing or conducting a business value chain would be considered as advantage.
  • Experience in donor funded projects and working in international environment would be considered as advantage.
  • Track records innovative approach and knowledge in successful examples.

 

Gender Experts:

  • At least 3 years of work experience in developing methodology, research and analysis on Gender equality.
  • Demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter.
  • Good communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and writing skills
  • Experience in donor funded projects and working in international environment would be considered as advantage.
  • Experience in analysing or conducting a business gender sensitive value chain would be considered as advantage.
  • Track records innovative approach and knowledge in successful examples.


Language skills

  • Excellent proven knowledge of English (working level), because the training of trainers to be attended will be in English language. In addition, the analysis that the selected experts will produce will be in English language as a first draft.


Timeline

The expert will be engaged for a certain number of working days depends on the assignment during the period Mars 1st, 2023 – September 30th, 2023


Scope of the assignment:

  • Participate in the training of trainers for gender sensitive business value chain, on March 2nd and 3rd, 2023. To participate in the follow up meeting on March 7th, 2023, were duties and responsibilities will be assigned.
  • Be engaged in the preparation of at least one gender analysis of the business value chain of a selected sector where women are doing business within Tirana Municipality.
  • Conduct, as trainer in pair with another trainer, at least 4 -6 training sessions, for building the capacities of the gender sensitive business value chain analysis of the women entrepreneurs from Tirana municipality.
  • Follow up meetings with the women in business part of the trainings.
  • Evaluate the women business situations and capacities and produce analysis.
  • Prepare the training materials, in close collaboration with the GADC staff and experts.
  • Guide and ensure the highest quality of monitoring, evaluation, reporting and communications.
  • Produce reports and analysis related to methodology and trainings conducted.
