Public Statement – Stop sexual harassment in the workplace
16.5.2016 The Gender Alliance for Development has followed with concern the news in the Albanian media regarding the request by the former Mayor of Dibër Municipality for sexual favors from a girl who was looking for a job. Please find attached our position and request to the Council of Ministers to strengthen the legislation and institutions responsible for reporting cases of sexual harassment in the workplace.
We call on all Albanian civil society organizations or anyone to support this public request, which will be sent to the Council of Ministers by May 18, 2016. If you have any other suggestions regarding sexual harassment and violence in the workplace, they are welcome, as we are preparing proposals aligned with the European Union legislation regarding this matter.
