GADC brings expert Rebecca Vagi to Albania—in meetings and trainings on the fight against domestic and gender-based violence.

This week, the Gender Alliance for Development Center organized a marathon of activities related to the response against Gender-Based Violence with expert Rebecca Vagi (England), including:

  • Workshop with monitors of AWEN (Albanian Women’s Empowerment Network) member organizations who are monitoring Coordinated Referral Mechanisms in six municipalities: Tirana, Durrës, Elbasan, Shkodra, Korça, and Vlora;
  • Workshop with gender equality employees from various municipalities;
  • Workshop with members of the Coordinated Referral Mechanism of the Municipality of Elbasan;
  • A visit and discussion with social workers and psychologists at the National Center for Victims of Domestic Violence.

These activities are part of the project: “Capacity building of CSOs to monitor the implementation of activities related to the reduction of gender-based and domestic violence of the National Strategy and Action Plan for Gender-Equality 2016-2020.”

This project was implemented within the framework of the regional program in the fight against violence against women, “Implementing Standards, Changing Mindsets” –End Violence Against Women in the Western Balkans and Turkey, financed by the European Union in Albania and implemented by UN Women Albania.
